Paul Simon made a grand return to the stage this past weekend, kicking off his ‘A Quiet Celebration Tour’ with two big nights in New Orleans. In a nod to the many artists who have famously returned to touring after farewell tours, Simon did his impression of KISS, Cher, The Who, and others. This tour is Paul’s first since 2018, and his fans were thrilled to see him back on stage.
On Friday night, Simon delivered a 19-song set, backed up by a nine-piece band. The following night, he expanded the set to 20 songs, delighting the audience with the addition of "Father and Daughter." The first set featured his latest album, 2023's Seven Psalms, performed in its entirety. The second set was a mix of hits and deep cuts. Simon's wife, singer Edie Brickell, joined him for three songs—two in the first set and one in the second.
Next up, the tour moves to Austin for three nights starting on Tuesday.
