Stevie Nicks is back in the studio, working on a new album that she calls her "ghost record." During her recent speech at the Pollstar Live! Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Los Angeles, Stevie said that this project came together unexpectedly in just the last few weeks. She shared that the devastating Los Angeles wildfires were a significant motivator for her. "I was sitting in a hotel for 92 days and at some point during the last part of that stay I said, ‘You know what, I feel like I’m on the road but there’s no shows.’ And I thought, ‘You need to go back to work.’ And I did," she explained.
Stevie has already written seven songs for the album, describing them as "autobiographical, real stories where I’m not pulling any punches for probably the first time in my life." She emphasized that these are not "airy fairy songs" but rather genuine stories of her memories and experiences with remarkable men. One of the songs is about Prince, whose hit "Little Red Corvette" inspired Stevie to write "Stand Back." They share publishing royalties for the song, and Prince even played synthesizer on it.
The album will be Stevie's first major project since her 2014 release, 24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault.
