Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2025 announced

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation has announced its Class of 2025.  To be eligible for induction, artists must have released their first record 25 years prior to the induction year. This year's inductees in the Performer Category include Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes. Notably, four of these artists were elected on their first nomination, highlighting their undeniable influence and legacy in rock and roll.

In addition to the Performer Category, the Musical Influence Award recognizes artists whose music and performance style have directly influenced and evolved rock & roll and music impacting culture. This year, Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon (deceased) are honored with this award. The Musical Excellence Award, given to artists, musicians, songwriters, and producers whose originality and influence have dramatically impacted music, goes to Thom Bell (deceased), Nicky Hopkins (deceased), and Carol Kaye. The Ahmet Ertegun Award is presented to Lenny Waronker, former president of Warner Brothers Records, for his major influence on the creative development and growth of rock and roll.

The 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 8th at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Fans can watch the event live on Disney+ and catch it the next day on Hulu, followed by a condensed version on ABC at a later date. Seven artists, including Phish, Billy Idol, The Black Crowes, Mariah Carey, Joy Division + New Order, Oasis, and Mana, were nominated but did not garner enough votes to be inducted.
