In the '80s, when Heart was signed to Capitol Records, the band underwent a significant transformation. Not only did they adopt a new image and record songs written by outside writers, but they also dealt with some unusual suggestions from the record company.
According to Ann Wilson on her podcast, After Dinner Thinks With Ann Wilson, one executive even attempted to choreograph their stage show. Ann recalls, "We were getting ready to go out on tour and somebody at the record company had this big bright idea to send Paula Abdul in to teach us dance moves. It obviously didn’t work. Every time they tried to dress me or do something for me that they know better than me, it never works."
Despite these challenges, Heart continued to thrive and evolve. They are now gearing up for their next tour, An Evening With Heart, which kicks off on May 31st in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
