Barbra Streisand and Paul McCartney have teamed up for a new version of McCartney’s romantic ballad, “My Valentine.” Originally written for his 2012 album Kisses on the Bottom, the song now finds new life as a duet on Streisand’s upcoming album, The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume 2. The track, which features Eric Clapton on acoustic guitar, blends Streisand’s timeless vocals with McCartney’s signature warmth.
Barbra shared, “What a joy it was to record ‘My Valentine’ with Paul McCartney. To share time with him in the studio was truly special!” The album, set for release on June 27th, is a star-studded collection of duets, also featuring legends like Bob Dylan, James Taylor, and Sting.
McCartney talked about the song, recalling a rainy Valentine’s Day holiday with his now-wife, Nancy Shevell. “She said, ‘Doesn’t matter. We’ll have a great time.’ So I like that attitude,” he said. Inspired by her optimism, he began composing the song on a hotel piano, weaving their moment into lyrics that captured the essence of their relationship at the time.
