John Lennon fans, it’s time to get excited. There’s another big release on its way with ‘Power To The People (Super Deluxe Edition)’ which is set to arrive on October 10th, just one day after what would have been Lennon’s 85th birthday. The box set is massive, and it’s produced by Sean Ono Lennon. Big doesn’t adequately describe the box set. It features 123 tracks—90 of which have never been released. They’re contained on 12 discs. The collection really digs into John and Yoko’s politically charged era from the 1969 anthem “Give Peace A Chance” to a newly remixed version of their 1972 album Sometime In New York City.
One of the real standout items in the set is its coverage of the historic One To One Concerts at Madison Square Garden in 1972—Lennon's only full-length solo concerts after leaving The Beatles, and the last time he and Yoko performed together live. Lennon once told NME, “That Madison Square Garden gig was the best music I enjoyed playing since The Cavern or even Hamburg.” Sean, reflecting on the process of assembling the set, shared how deeply personal it was: “It’s almost like getting more time with my dad.” He also revealed that remixing the concerts involved some “movie magic” to preserve the live energy while enhancing the sound quality.
The One To One Concert will be available separately in several formats, including a four-LP Deluxe Collector’s Edition and a two-CD Deluxe Edition. To mark the announcement, a newly remixed video of Lennon’s performance of The Beatles’ “Come Together” from the evening show has been released, giving Fab Four fans a taste of what’s to come.
