Dionne Warwick was forced to cancel two shows after undergoing emergency surgery this week.The music legend was scheduled to perform at the New York State Fair in Syracuse on Monday and the Soul Town Festival in London on Saturday. Dionne shared the news with her legions of fans on Instagram, saying,” The last thing I expected was to have surgery the day I was to fly to London. Pain was unbearable and my doctor rushed me into surgery thank goodness, as it could’ve resulted in something far worse.”
At 84, Warwick didn’t disclose the exact nature of the surgery but assured fans she’s on the mend. She added optimistically, “Hopefully we can do this festival again in the future, and I’ll be walking like a normal person.” Her management also confirmed that she won’t be able to fly until her doctors give her the all-clear, which led to the cancellation of her London appearance. The Soul Town Festival lineup had included artists like Cameo, Lisa Stansfield, and Shalamar, making Warwick’s absence notable.
Despite the setback, Dionne’s message was filled with gratitude and hope. “Please keep me in prayer and I’ll see you soon,” she told fans.
