Paul Rodgers won’t be at Saturday’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in L.A., after all. The Bad Company frontman, who’s had 13 strokes since 2016, says his doctors have advised against flying. “I was hoping to be there and perform,” Rodgers shared, “but I have to prioritize my health. Singing’s fine—it’s the stress that’s tough. Thanks for understanding.”
Holding down the fort will be Simon Kirke, Bad Company’s drummer. With Mick Ralphs passing in June and Boz Burrell in 2006, Kirke will represent the band solo—but he’s bringing backup. “Guaranteed to rock,” he promises, with a crew of top-tier musicians stepping in.
Mick Fleetwood will induct the band, and the tribute lineup is stacked: Bryan Adams, Joe Perry of Aerosmith, and possibly Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless, who covered “All Right Now” from Free—Rodgers and Kirke’s pre-Bad Company band—on the new tribute album Can't Get Enough.
