Michael Jackson was often called the King of Pop during the peak of his career in the 80’s.Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ album gave us so many memories in the 80’s with one number one hit after another. That very album just made an unbelievable leap on the Billboard Hot 100 last weekend.
The album leaped from #32 all the way up to #10 on the Billboard chart dated last Saturday. That’s not that much of a surprise more than four decades after its initial release. Here’s the surprise part: With that leap, Michael Jackson became the first artist to ever land a top 10 in six different decades. Starting in the 1970’s, Jackson has charted with a top 10 album in each decade. That is absolutely remarkable.
Before MJ did it, the record belonged to crooner Andy Williams, who managed to chart in five decades—mostly because of his Christmas hit “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.”These classic hits have remarkable staying power in a time where fads and trends in music come and go.
