There’s a new trailer out for ‘Billy Preston: That’s the Way God Planned It,’ the upcoming film about the music legend often called “the fifth Beatle.”
The documentary sets the stage with Preston’s meteoric rise—a keyboard prodigy whose GRAMMY‑winning acumen made him a go‑to collaborator for The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Ray Charles, and Aretha Franklin. The film will also take a closer look at Billy’s solo hits like “Will It Go Round In Circles” and “Nothing From Nothing.”
The documentary will also look at the darker chapters of Preston’s story, unflinchingly exploring the pain he carried behind the scenes. From childhood abuse to battles with addiction, legal troubles, and the emotional fallout that followed him through adulthood, the film takes a raw look at Preston’s struggles as well as his success.
The documentary officially releases on February 20th.
