Beach Boys fans get ready—the vaults are opening once again. The upcoming box set ‘We Gotta Groove: The Brother Studio Years’ will arrive on February 13th on three CDs and three LPs. Here’s the big deal with this release—it includes a previously unreleased album produced by Brian Wilson that fans have been chasing for decades.
That lost record is Adult/Child, a project recorded during the first half of 1977. Wilson wrote seven songs for it—somewhat autobiographical and very much in his unmistakable style. But despite the work that went into it, the album was shelved later that same year. Instead, the band pivoted and released M.I.U. Album in 1978, leaving Adult/Child to circulate only through bootleg copies… until now.
The box set also features a remastered version of the 1977 album The Beach Boys Love You, plus alternate mixes of its songs. The set also includes Wilson’s original cassette demos along with outtakes from the band’s 1976 album 15 Big Ones.
Looking forward to some Beach Boys nostalgia on February 13th.
