Slash says he’s had a great time digging back into the songs from the Guns N’ Roses Chinese Democracy era.
The iconic band has released songs including “Hard School,” “Perhaps,” and a new single “Nothin’.” That’s given Slash a real opportunity to wipe the slate clean and craft new guitar parts. He’s called the whole process fun—almost like discovering hidden chapters of the band’s storied history. With the release of “Nothin’,” the vault from that period has been emptied out. Slash says, “This was the last couple songs. There’s really none left.”
Looking ahead, he says the real key to getting a full album of brand‑new material is simple: focus. According to him, GNR has plenty of ideas, riffs, and pieces of songs floating around — the challenge is buckling down and finishing them. Once the band locks in, he says their momentum will take over: “Once it gets started, once it gets rolling, it’ll take off.” And from the way he talks about it, that spark feels close. “I can feel it coming, you know.”
