Van Halen fans get ready to crank up the nostalgia—and the volume. A special 40th-anniversary edition of the band’s seventh album 5150 is on the way. It was the first to feature Sammy Hagar. The deluxe edition will drop on March 27th, which will be four decades (and three days) after the original March 1986 release.
5150 kicked off the “Van Hagar” era with the radio classics “Why Can’t This Be Love,” “Love Walks In,” “Dreams,” and “Best of Both Worlds.” This isn’t just a remastered version of that album, it’ll also feature more than 90 minutes of never-before-heard live recordings from the band’s 1986 show at New Haven Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Connecticut plus rare 7-inch single edits and extended 12-inch versions.
It’ll also contain a Blu-ray featuring a high-definition upgrade of the concert film originally released as Live Without a Net, plus promo videos for “Dreams” and “Why Can’t This Be Love.” Forty years later, this is a good way to look back on Van Halen’s second era.
