B.B. King’s Blues Summit 100 arrives this weekend, and it’s packed with star power.
The new two-CD/three-LP collection was produced by Joe Bonamassa, and it honors B.B. King’s 100th birthday. It follows the spirit of King’s 1993 ‘Blues Summit’ release. Check out this list of artists who’ll be featured: Slash and Myles Kennedy, Eric Clapton, Michael McDonald, Chaka Khan, Paul Rodgers, Gary Clark Jr., Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, and Warren Haynes, among others.
Joining the project for Slash was personal. King was one of his earliest inspirations. He recorded guitars for a fresh sound on “When Love Comes to Town,” the song B.B. King did with U2. Slash also recalled the few times he jammed with King, praising B.B.’s patience and warmth.He called King a “grandfather type.”This new release is a great way for blues fans to acknowledge the legacy of the one and only B.B. King.
