Whatever happened to Kevin Cronin from REO Speedwagon?
It turns out, he’s finally off the road. With touring under the REO Speedwagon name no longer an option, Kevin Cronin is spending this year at home, zeroing in on a big project he's been wrestling with for more than a decade: his memoir, Roll With the Change: My Life Within and Without REO Speedwagon.
There has been one major hangup: The absence of Gary Richrath. Cronin says writing the band’s story without Gary—who passed away in 2015—means taking extra care to make the narrative fair and balanced. He says it’s not writer’s block; it’s respect. That hit him full force during a show in Peoria, Illinois, when Gary’s son Eric showed up. Cronin told him straight: “Part of what’s taking me a long time to write this book is that your dad is not here to tell his side… and I will not put this book out until I accomplish that.”
We'll keep you posted on Kevin's progress on the book. REO Speedwagon fans will have to wait a bit longer.
