Former Foreigner lead singer Lou Gramm has finally returned to the spotlight 17 years after his last solo release. Lou cleared out the vault when he dropped the new album simply titled Released last Friday. The 10-song album was built from tracks off earlier records. Lou says the title pulls double duty, reflecting on both the act of releasing music and finally finishing long-shelved ideas.
He says the new record moves fast and it’s a mix of hard rock, R&B vibes and a few standout ballads—which he’s known for. Gramm says revisiting old material was powerful for him. Some of the songs were unfinished, others were missing a verse or guitar part. Those small gaps kept them off past albums. Fast forward decades later and Lou says those songs hit him all over again. They were too strong to forget and too good to stay unreleased.
The album’s lead single, “Young Love,” features Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell, Gramm’s former bandmate from Shadow King in the early ’90s. Fans can hear it live soon when Gramm hits the road next month as Foreigner’s special guest for six Florida dates, with more scattered shows with the band lined up from May through October.
