The Pretenders are coming along with their first new album in three years. Chrissie Hynde says things are moving right along. The rock ‘n roll legend recently posted about the band’s progress on social media.
Hynde says she’s been meeting daily with guitarist James Walbourne, writing and putting songs together. She calls this stage of the process “the fun part…well apart from recording and touring” adding with a little wink. When the writing clicks, that’s when the magic starts. The album currently has the working title Outlaw, with plans to start recording sometime this year. There’s even been some talk of doing a few shows next year, something the Pretenders haven’t done in quite a while.
This new album will be the follow-up to 2023’s Relentless. Nothing is fully locked in just yet, but the Pretenders are clearly back in their creative zone.
