Gregg Allman: The Music of My Soul rolls into theaters starting June 17th, finally bringing Gregg Allman’s story to the big screen. The documentary will first run for a full week in Los Angeles and New York, while one-night-only screenings run in theatres across the country.
There’ll be a couple of premiere events to kick off the run, including Grammercy Theatre in New York featuring an acoustic set from Devon Allman, who’ll be joined by Duane Betts, whose father is the late guitarist Dickey Betts from The Allman Brothers Band. The focus then appropriately shifts to the south to Macon, Georgia on June 11th at the Grand Opera House. That event will feature an appearance by former Allman Brothers Band keyboardist Chuck Leavell.
The film is a tribute to the Gregg Allman, the rock ‘n roll icon whose influence still resonates nine years after his death on May 27th, 2017, from liver cancer.
