The Who have already wrapped up their U.S. farewell tour, but there could be more dates ahead for the legendary band. Roger Daltrey recently told Rolling Stone the band is targeting 2027 for “farewell” shows outside the U.S. as Pete Townshend recovers from another knee operation. Daltrey has also dealt with his own issues.
There’s also apparent talk of possibly recording new music. Daltrey says he’d like to record another album but isn’t sure it’ll ever happen. Creatively, he’d like to see the band break from the past, after The Who most recently leaned on Townshend’s demos instead of exploring more in the studio. Their last release, 2019’s WHO, showed there’s still plenty of gas left in the tank.
The Who have no plans for another full U.S. tour. Daltrey admitted the routine started feeling increasingly like a job to them. He added that the band isn’t going away. If the right charity or special event comes along, they’ll be ready to step back on stage.
