BIG Music News: Elton John, Heart

ELTON JOHN:  Did the superstar have a hit put out on him?

Did music promoter David Gest once hire a gunman to kill Elton John?

London's Sun published the startling accusation on the first anniversary of the flamboyant promoter's death. It quotes Gest's bodyguard and pal claiming David actually hired a hit-man to snuff out Elton after the rocker joked, "I’d love to buy Liza [Minelli] a heterosexual husband."

Bodyguard Imad Hamdi is quoted saying, "David flew into a range and yelled, ‘I’m going to kill that mother [bleep]. He’s a dead man.' He looked me in the eyes and said, ‘I want him dead.'"

Hamdi actually contracted with a supposed hit-man based in Hawaii -- and paid $25,000 to have the Rocket Man permanently grounded. But Gest then got cold feet and canceled the plot -- and the gunman only returned a third of the original payment.

HEART:  There's a broken heart between the Wilson sisters

There's a broken Heart between the Wilson sisters.

You may remember last year when Ann Wilson's husband, Dean Wetter, was arrested for assaulting members of the Wilson family. It turns out that those family members were Nancy Wilson's two boys.

Wetter got upset after the boys left the door of Ann's tour bus open, and he slapped and punched one on the back of the head, before grabbing him by the throat. When the other boy tried to intervene, he too was grabbed by the throat with such force that he said he couldn't breathe. Wetter was arrested and charged with two counts of assault, one felony and one misdemeanor.

He pleaded guilty last month and will be sentenced to two years' unsupervised probation this Friday, along with numerous other stipulations.

Ann tells Rolling Stone, "The cops were called, which I thought was totally unnecessary. It was something that could have been worked out in a family meeting, but instead, it just went ballistic."

Ironically, Nancy who introduced Ann to Wetter in the '80s, but they didn't start dating until a few years ago, and didn't marry until 2015.

So, until this situation can be resolved, the sisters are on the road with their respective side projects. Heart, as Ann says, is on "hiatus." And Nancy adds, "I just know in my gut that me and Ann are going to be fine... We just don't need the high school drama swirling around the camp. We just need to talk to each other."
