BIG Music News: Main Ingredient, Mick Jagger

THE MAIN INGREDIENT:  Cuba Gooding Sr. found dead in his car

Cuba Gooding Senior, lead singer of The Main Ingredient and father of Oscar-winning actor Cuba Gooding Junior, was found dead in his car today, one week shy of his 73rd birthday.

TMZ reports that the "Everybody Plays the Fool" singer was "slumped over" in his parked silver Jaguar in Woodland Hills, California. They quote a second-hand source as saying "the police suspect he died from an overdose."

Gooding leaves wife Shirley and four children, including Cuba Junior, who won an Oscar for Jerry Maguire. According to Wikipedia, Gooding Senior was developing a movie project, Everybody Plays the Fool: The Cuba Gooding Story, about three generations of the Gooding family.

The New York City native joined The Main Ingredient in 1972 after the group's original singer died of leukemia. His first single with the group, "Everybody Plays the Fool," reached Top 3 on both the R&B and pop charts. But that was as good as it got. The group had one more Top 10 hit, "Just Don't Want to Be Lonely," in 1974.

Gooding recorded a song called "Everybody's Got to Vote" last year and posted it on his website, www.cuba-gooding.com.

MICK JAGGER, JOHN FOGERTY:  Hanging out at dinner in Nashville

What happens when Mick Jagger, John Fogerty and country star Brad Paisley go to a restaurant together? The waitress gets absolutely tongue-tied.

Brad took Mick and John to Sperry's, a venerable Nashville steakhouse, for dinner when they were in town doing guest shots on Brad's new album, Love and War, which comes out tomorrow (Friday).

Brad says, “It was hilarious. It wasn’t until those guys left that I was like, Holy cow. This is something, being able to do this. What a great fantasy camp (I’m able) to run out here."

TED NUGENT & KID ROCK:  Dinner with President Trump

Wednesday was celebrity day at The White House.

After President Trump met the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots yesterday, he welcomed two other American patriots: Ted Nugent and Kid Rock.

Nuge posted photos of the visit online, saying, "I got your Shot Heard Round the World right here in big ol' greazy ass Washington D.C. where your one and only Motor City Madman Whack Master Strap Assassin One dined with President Donald J. Trump to 'Make America Great Again!' Got that?"

The two Michigan musicians were joined by former Alaska governor Sarah Palin. The three of them posed for a photo in front of a painting of Hillary Clinton.
