BIG Music News: George Michael, Paul Simon

GEORGE MICHAEL:  Documentary on the late singer is on the way

The BBC has un-shelved a documentary about George Michael that fans said was "too soon" to air in March. Producers are adding more approved footage to flesh out the flick, which will air at the end of this year.

According to Britain's Sun, the makers of Freedom got permission to film inside Michael's home on a tour guided by supermodel Kate Moss. An insider tells the paper, "Kate and George were friends for years and knew each other really well. They lived just a few seconds walk away and Kate would hang out with him. She slipped into the house through the back door with the crew to avoid causing a scene as there are still fans who go there to pay tribute. Everything was kept very hushed."

Freedom, which will air on the BBC in England around the first anniversary of Michael's death, will also feature footage from his final concert performance.

PAUL SIMON:  Concert headed to PBS and DVD

A Paul Simon concert marking the 25th anniversary of Graceland will be out on home video and PBS next month.

The Concert in Hyde Park, which will be released as a two-CD and DVD or Blu-Ray set on June 9th, was filmed in London in in July 2012 and features a reunion with the original Graceland musicians. There's also appearance from reggae legend Jimmy Cliff, who performs his songs "The Harder They Come" and "Many Rivers to Cross," as well as duets with Simon on "Vietnam" and "Mother and Child Reunion."

The concert will air on PBS stations around the country next month as part of pledge drives.

CARS:  Expanded album releases on the way

The Cars will issue expanded versions of their second and third albums on July 28th.

Singer-guitarist Ric Ocasek supervised the remastering of Candy-O and Panorama and augmented them with outtakes from the sessions for each.

Candy-O adds seven bonus tracks, including alternate mixes of "Let's Go" and "Lust for Kicks" as well as the previously unreleased "They Won't See You (The Northern Studios Version)."

Panorama is expanded with four bonus tracks, three of which have not been previously released: "The Edge," "Shooting for You" and "Be My Baby."

Both albums will be available in multiple configurations, including vinyl with music on three sides and an etching on the fourth.
