Honoring Elvis Presley

ELVIS PRESLEY:  We lost The King 40 years ago today

It's another of those days where most all of us remember exactly where we were and what we were doing when the news came that Elvis Presley had passed away at age 42.  I was 8 years old on August 16, 1977.  I can remember coming back into the house after playing outside and my mother had the TV on that day when the announcer broke in to deliver the news.  I can still see that day vividly in my mind 40 years later.  ~ Dewayne

We're honoring The King all day today on BIG 95 KBGO by spotlighting some of his most iconic hits.

As we remember Elvis Presley, here were his most important songs, the ones most essential to his career. Two years ago, London's Telegraph compiled a list of his 20 Essential Songs. Here they are, in chronological order:

"(Marie's the Name) His Latest Flame"
