Big 95 Music News: Billy Joel, Beach Boys

BILLY JOEL:  He's a dad again

Billy Joel became a father for the third time Sunday when his fourth wife, Ashley Roman, gave birth to the couple's second daughter at 7:50pm ET at New York University Hospital in Manhattan.

Billy is 68-years-old, while Ashley is 35.

Remy Anne tipped the scales at seven-pounds, three-ounces and, according to his spokeswoman, both mother and daughter "are doing well, and everyone is thrilled.”

Remy's older sister, Della Rose, was born in August 2015. He had his oldest daughter, Alexa Ray, with second wife, supermodel Christie Brinkley, in 1985.

THE BEACH BOYS:  Close call with a tornado in Oklahoma this weekend

Paliament Funkadelic once rocked the radio with the song "Tear the Roof off the Sucker." But The Beach Boys never expected it to experience it in real life.

Saturday's tornado in Cleveland County, Oklahoma tore part of the roof off Riverwind Casino -- where The Beach Boys were performing a benefit. Oklahoma governor Mary Fallin was in the audience. She tells KWTV Oklahoma City, "I looked up towards the balcony and there's a huge flood of rain coming through the roof into the concert hall." The governor says she received a cell phone alert about the tornado, but the casino didn't have time to evacuate the arena before it hit.

Fortunately, no one was reported injured by the twister.

LIONEL RICHIE:  80's albums returning on vinyl

It's Lionel Richie's turn to go back to vinyl. Three of his multi-million-selling albums will be reissued on LP on December 8th.

1982’s Lionel Richie, 1983’s Can’t Slow Down and 1985’s Dancing on the Ceiling helped seal the recent Kennedy Center Honoree’s legacy as one of the most popular singer-songwriters of all time.

  • His self-titled solo debut spun off the classic hits "You Are," "Truly" and "My Love."
  • Can't Slow Down included Lionel's first solo number-one, "All Night Long (All Night)," along with the ballad "Hello." "Running With the Night featured a guitar solo by Toto's Steve Lukather, and "Stuck on You" reaffirmed Lionel's passion for country music.
  • Dancing on the Ceiling's title song inspired the video that paid homage to the legendary Fred Astaire, while the number-one ballad "Say You, Say Me" came from the soundtrack of the Cold War thriller White Nights and earned Lionel an Academy Award.

BOB SEGER:  Back surgery late last week

Bob Seger underwent surgery Friday to address an issue with his vertebrae, which forced him to postpone the Runaway Train tour.

In a statement, his management says, "Bob is on the road to recovery... According to his doctors the surgery 'couldn’t have gone better. Bob wants to thank all his fans for the outpouring of well wishes and support. We hope to have news regarding dates for the tour soon."

Seger's new album, I Knew You When, comes out November 17th.
