The 76th annual Golden Globes is now in the history books. Here's some of the things you didn’t see:
- You could say that Denzel Washington had a kind of #MeToo moment on the red carpet. A fan came up to the Oscar winner to take a picture with him. Instead of waiting for consent, he proceeded to put his arm around the actor to pose. “Did I say yes?” Washington said. “When you ask someone for a picture, you wait for them to say yes.”
- Patricia Arquette apologized for her double F-bomb incident. During her acceptance speech, Arquette accidentally dropped some 4-letter words about her teeth. Backstage at the show, she owned up to the comment, saying “I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry. I know,” when a reporter made reference to it. She joked that once the words are out “you can’t take it back”, but said yes, it was “an unplanned F-bomb.” Arquette acknowledged that she knows that the Globes are a fancy affair and that her swearing didn’t blend well, but joked that “dental dramas are true. Trust me.”
- Melissa McCarthy may well be the hero of the night. Even though dinner was served, celebs working the red carpet weren’t able to partake. That’s why she brought 40 ham and cheese sandwiches with her to the show. “I’ve been handing them out to everyone,” she said. “Next year, I’m bringing hot dogs.”
