Bruce Sudano says there are good signs for upcoming national tour of Summer: The Donna Summer Musical. The late disco star's husband says, "People are excited to go. It's all boding very well."
He admits that the show, which had an eight-month Broadway run last year, is being "tweaked" to make it "better than it already was. It's an opportunity to refine some things." There will be some adjustments -- such as the show's innovative "elevator pods" enabling cast members to pop up on stage, which may not be feasible at some locations.
While "it might be too early to say," Sudano says "one or two" of the actresses who shared the role of Donna may join the national company.
Sudano's biggest take away from bringing Summer to Broadway: "It's a completely different beast from how I'm used to doing shows... Now that we have another chance to go in there, I'm sure the director and producer will get together with me to find out how we can improve things."
Summer... The Donna Summer Musical opens October 1st in Rochester, New York.
