Woodstock 50 has apparently found a new home.
In the latest chapter of a soap opera that has seen the commemorative festival lose its key financial backer and location, Michael Lang is on the verge of a deal with an upstate New York racetrack, hotel and resort complex.
According to the Poughkeepsie Journal, a scaled-down Woodstock 50 will be held at Vernon Downs, a harness-racing track located between Syracuse and Utica. The complex can hold up to 65,000 fans for the three-day festival -- less than half the 150,000 that could have fit into the original site, the Watkins Glen race track.
