Paul McCartney celebrates being a 'Grandude' in his new picture book, 'Hey, Grandude!' But in a new interview with The Times, the Beatles legend admits it’s not always magical adventures and bedtime stories having grandchildren.
In the interview, the musician reveals that one of his grandsons was recently mugged for his cell phone at knifepoint in London. He doesn’t name who the victim was, but has revealed that he was the victim of an armed robber himself in the past.
“[My grandson] was saying the worst thing was that he should have just thumped the guy, he came back and felt like a coward,” McCartney says. “When I was a kid it was four guys and they nicked my watch – I was of a similar age, and felt the same, saying, “I have got to learn karate and be a black belt – and then I’ll get them!”
