The boom in Mister Rogers nostalgia rolls on.
On the heels of the Toronto Film Festival debut of A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, an album featuring a diverse collection of artists cover songs from the beloved public TV show is coming soon.
Due October 25th, Thank You, Mister Rogers -- Music and Memories is not connected to the movie -- although Rita Wilson, whose husband Tom Hanks co-stars in Neighborhood, is one of the featured vocalists. She sings "Sometimes People Are Good," and tells BroadwayWorld.com why she signed on for the project. "Mister Rogers' melody and lyrics are beautifully integrated together. His words of kindness, acceptance and peace are a classic message."
Micky Dolenz, who sings "Perfectly Beautiful Day," tells us, "Mister Rogers reached a younger [audience] and he made little kids feel safe, warm, and fuzzy like a teddy bear."
The Cowsills put their harmony-driven stamp on "Won't You Be My Neighbor."
Other artists on the collection include Vanessa Williams, Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Junior, Lee Greenwood, Jon Secada and Jim Brickman.
The website ThankYouMisterRogers.com offers short clips from each of the 13 songs.
