Olivia Newton-John isn't letting cancer bring her down. She says she's "happy...lucky [and] grateful... I have much to live for. And I intend to keep on living it,"
In a segment airing on this weekend's CBS Sunday Morning, Olivia adds that "'why me' has never been a part" of her mindset. "I never felt victimized. I never felt, 'Why not?'"
It was more important to develop a strategy of dealing with her stage four cancer.
From CBS Sunday Morning: Olivia Newton-John talked about how she lives with stage four cancer:
"Denial is usually good... it's really healthy. But it was consuming my day. And after a time, I went, 'You know what? I don't know what my time is, but I need to enjoy my life.' They joy of life and everyday living has to be a part of that healing process as well."
t appears she has found a balance between truth and hope. "I think I know what the statistics are. But I put them away: But I'm gonna live longer than that. I've made that decision. And I don't buy into the statistics, 'cause I think they can make you really nervous." Instead, she tries "to meditate and be peaceful about it."
Olivia's memoir Don't Stop Believin' has just been published in the U.S.
