Don Henley coming to the aid of North Texans

Don Henley has come to the aid of the North Texas Food Bank.

Henley, who resides in the Dallas area, learned about an auction scheduled to raise money for the facility. He called and arranged to donate an acoustic guitar signed by the Eagles, along with handwritten lyrics to "Desperado," the title track of the band's second album, released in 1973.

Don Henley talked about the importance of fundraising:

"I have a great deal of empathy for the difficulties of fundraising; it's not an easy thing. There's an incredible amount of competition for the charitable dollar out there and you know, there are an enormous number of worthy causes."

The sheet of lyrics is not the original manuscript, but is actually what Don did at the end of last month. He also had his attorney write a Letter of Authenticity.

All proceeds from the auction will go to the food bank, which is being overwhelmed by people left in need by COVID-19. Bidding runs through May 13th, culminating with a live auction that begins at 8 p.m. CT that night.

Bidding on the lyrics is approaching $6000, with the guitar approaching $2000.
