Todd Rundgren will tour virtually in 2021

Todd Rundgren is set to kick off one of the first of its kind virtual tours in 2021.

Todd and his band are based in Chicago. The Clearly Human Live Virtual Tour begins February 14th in Buffalo, New York with 25 shows scheduled through March 22nd in Seattle. Each one will include a performance of his 1989 album, Nearly Human.

Rundgrentalked about the tour:

"I was supposed to be out originally in May of this year and we just kept moving that every couple of weeks as the prognosis came in, and, at this point it doesn't look like I'll be out on the road until late next year. So, that just seemed like to long to just do nothing. So I came up with this idea of doing a virtual tour in which we do a show for every city we would have gone to had we actually been on the road."

The tour will use Geo-fencing technology, and each show will be targeted to the greater metropolitan location of the purchaser’s zip code. Only fans who log in from each tour market can purchase a ticket, with a couple of exceptions -- anyone purchasing from outside of the U.S., as well as fans who buy multiple-market ticket packages.

So Todd, his band and the at-home viewer get a more concert-like experience, there will be several rows of seats in front of the stage viewable on video. Each show will essentially be “localized” to give a sense of place. Images of local area landmarks will appear on the video wall throughout the show, and band/crew catering at each show will consist of local dishes associated with the local market.

Other features will include the ability to listen to the director’s intercom as he calls the camera shots, a real-time chat with fellow viewers, and a real-time merchandise store which will allow store browsing and purchasing during the show.

Upon arrival at the venue for each in-person show, each audience member will have their temperature checked, be required to show proof of a negative COVID test within the previous 72 hours, and will be given a souvenir ClearMask with the tour logo to wear at all times.

Tickets are $35 and available at NoCapShows.com/artist?name=ToddRundgren.
