Paul McCartney says there likely would've never been a Beatles reunion

Paul McCartney has gone on record saying the chances were very slim that The Beatles would likely never have reunited, even if John Lennon and George Harrison had lived.

He explained in an interview with The Sunday Times of London that The Beatles decided when the group broke up that they "weren't going to pick it up again."

He said their thinking at that time was, "You talk about something coming full circle that is very satisfying; let’s not spoil it by doing something that might not be as good. It was a conscious decision to leave well enough alone." He doubts they would have reconsidered it, but adds, "Who knows? We could have.”

Regarding his once soured relationship with the late John Lennon, which saw them quipping at each other in songs for a time, he offered that they "had certainly got [their] friendship back," before he died, which Paul calls "a great blessing."

Tuesday will mark 40 years since Lennon was shot and killed by Mark David Chapman outside his New York apartment.
