Richie Sambora says he has "no regrets" about leaving Bon Jovi in 2013 to concentrate on being a full-time dad to his daughter Ava.
He says to People, "I had a lot of conscious work to do around [my personal life]... You know, I ain't no angel. But I realized, Ava needed me to be around at that point in time. Family had to come first, and that's what happened." (Ava's mother is the actress Heather Locklear.)
Sambora also says that after a couple of stays in rehab, it was time to get away from the intensity of the rock and roll lifestyle. He adds, "My lord, when I look back and start to list the tours... 18-and-a-half months of being on the road, 52 countries... It's like, Wow. It was really time for a break."
Now settled in California, Sambora says he has "an amazing relationship with my daughter." Sambora also says they really bonded when he drove Ava to and from high school every morning. Now 22, Ava graduated last spring from Loyola Marymount University in L.A.
