Ways To Stay Motivated To Get Your Butt In Shape In The New Year

Aside from wanting to save money, the desire to shed excess poundage is tops on the list of most American’s New Year Resolution list. Sadly, it only takes about a month before the winter takes its toll, and healthy eating and exercise are replaced by beer, chips, and television. To keep your motivation, weight loss coach Liz Josefsberg offers up these tips to keep you on pace with your goals.

  • Accept that your motivation isn’t high and use that as a baseline.
  • Ask yourself, “What’s up?” and figure out a way to change up your routine to keep boredom out of the picture.
  • Get a few friends and agree to use each other as accountability buddies. Find out what their doing and see if you can incorporate some of it into your routine.
  • Dabble in different worlds. If you’re curious about Keto, then try a couple recipes. You don’t have to go all-in on something you’re not into, but there’s no harm in trying it.
  • Part of motivation is keeping yourself engaged. Sticking to the same foods every morning is going to bore you to tears. There’s a difference between “discipline” and “motivation.” Change it up.
  • Set alarms to remind yourself of what you want to accomplish…and don’t hit snooze to put it off.
  • If you’re easily tempted, then it makes sense to keep yourself away from tempting situations. Makes sense, right?
  • Create opportunities for better choices. Clear your pantry of all the crap you don’t want to eat anymore…then don’t buy it when you go to the store. Then, you can’t snack on it while watching the game.
  • Cheat days are your friend. If you can’t gain some enjoyment every once and a while, then what’s the point? Don’t punish yourself for rewarding yourself.
  • Try one new food a week. You might stumble onto something healthy that you actually enjoy!
