The Beach Boys hoping to celebrate their 60th

The Beach Boys are working on plans to celebrate their 60th anniversary in 2021.

While there are hopes for a reunion with Mike Love, Bruce Johnston and possibly Brian Wilson and Al Jardine sometime this summer, it’s certainly possible the whole thing may not happen until 2022.

Jardine was recently the guest on a Rolling Stone podcast honoring Pet Sounds. Jardine went on to say he believes the band members will come together at some point for a 60th anniversary celebration of some sorts.

Jardine talked of a possible proposal, "Well, not a tour. We’ll hit some very important … 10 or 20 areas of the world... It’s difficult to say, but it makes sense. I know there’s something in the works. I just can’t tell you when or where."

Mike Love didn’t commit to anything, but also didn’t deny that discussions are underway. Love hasn't spoken to Jardine about plans. "He didn’t ask me about it; he just said it. But I think [it] would be good to do something noting that it’s a pretty remarkable milestone. I don’t know what, exactly. I think a TV special would be really nice, honestly."

Mike will turn 80 in March and he added on a possible reunion, "I don’t know... I don’t think [so]. That hasn’t come up yet."
