Bruce Springsteen has never been big on commercial endorsements or having his music used in TV ads, but that all changed with his appearance in a Jeep commercial during Sunday’s Big Game. The star recently talked about why he changed his mind.
During an interview with Billboard, The Boss’ manager Jon Landau said, "They had assembled a terrific rough cut from stock footage and Bruce's pre-existing film work. When we saw it, we just felt that Bruce could turn this into something special...
"It was like, the material's great, we knew we could make it greater, let's go. That was about it...it felt right to me and I thought it would feel right to him."
Landau also added, "Bruce was paid fairly. I don't comment about his private charitable work."
The Big Game airing was the only time the commercial will play on TV. However, it has been viewed over 11 million times on YouTube.
