John Oates is set to headline a very special fundraiser to help Americans who don’t have enough to eat. John will be joined by Michael McDonald, Bob Weir, Dave Grohl, Sammy Hagar, Kevin Cronin, Sheila E and more on the virtual stage.
Daryl Hall will also make an appearance. John says he wants the show to be different, so he’s encouraged each of these artists to venture beyond just playing their big hits.
The virtual benefit is designed to raise money for Feeding America with 98 percent of funds raised going to assist those in need.
will also appear -- but in a separate segment. Eager to make the show different, Oates says each decided to go outside the box of just playing their big hits.
Taking its cue from the spirit of the Aspen Songwriters Festival, the Saturday night streaming show has a simple mission. Its designed to raise money for Feeding America, the charity, where 98 percent of funds raised go to help those in need.
John said, "During COVID, been sitting at home, you know, being glued to the news... seeing what was going on out there. And then, the after-effects of the unemployment that ensued from COVID. The numbers became really shocking. And... this phrase kept running through my head that no American family should go without food. If I can walk into a supermarket and see shelves full of food, all over the country, I don't understand why there are people in America who don't have food. It just doesn't make sense."
Songfest 7908 will stream on Nugs.net beginning at 7pm (Central) on Saturday night.
