Paul Stanley and Soul Station are releasing their debut album today. This is a completely different sound for the hard rocking KISS legend—who has long been a fan of R&B.
The album Now and Then features nine cover songs along with five original songs that Paul Stanley wrote.
The album features some of the most iconic R&B hits of all time including classics by The Five Stairsteps, The Spinners, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Al Green, The Temptations, The Delfonics, The Styistics and The Four Tops.
Paul talked about his love of soul and R&B:
"I grew up with this music. You know, I got influences that may be less apparent on first listening, but, as a kid I was lucky enough -- I saw Otis Redding, I saw Solomon Burke, The Temptations. I remember having my transistor radio and hearing Smokey and The Miracles do 'You Really Got a Hold on Me.' Gamble & Huff. Between The Stylistics, The Spinners, The O'Jays, you know, and on and on, that music is in my blood."
Paul Stanley’s rock ‘n roll fans should give this a listen. If you’re a fan of R&B, this is also worth a listen.
