America's Gerry Beckley has continued to stay busy during the pandemic and now he’s treating fans to Keeping The Light On - The Best of Gerry Beckley. The 20-song collection of his previous releases and song previously unavailable will be out on Friday.
Beckley has opened up about the story behind the song “Watching the Time,” which he wrote and gave to Chicago’s Robert Lamm to record.
Out this Friday, the 20-track collection mixes previous releases with several tunes never before available.
Gerry said, "'Watching the Time' it's a story of years, a guy going talking about going through the decades of his life. It was first recorded by Robert Lamm on one of his solo project. I had written it; he asked if I would come in to sing some backup. And maybe we could get our good friend Carl Wilson to join us. And so we did -- and we did a lovely version of that song. And we had such fun, that we thought we should make an album, the three of us."
Gerry is living in Australia these days and has said he will be vaccinated before America can resume its performing live. They were scheduled to play in Waco back in 2020 for their 50th anniversary tour. We’re hoping that show gets rescheduled.
