Heart’s Nancy Wilson officially releases her new solo album, You and Me, today.Nancy said being off during pandemic is what finally gave her the opportunity to record it.
"It was a blessing in disguise. It was a blessing inside a larger curse to be able to have the time and to get really creative with it. And I had a lot of fun doing it."
‘You and Me’ is now available on Nancy’s own Carry On label.It features 12 songs, including several covers like Bruce Springsteen's "The Rising," Pearl Jam's "Daughter," Simon and Garfunkel's "The Boxer" with Sammy Hagar, and The Cranberries' “Dreams.” The album’s title track, "You and Me," is about her late mom, Lois. The album also contains a tribute to Eddie Van Halen, “4 Edward.”
Nancy talked about her mom:
"I would characterize her as a steel magnolia because she was a military wife. Our dad was gone a lot so she was both mom and dad to us all, the three girls of us in our family. So, you just did not want to mess with her, but she was also just a wonderful mom. I'm lucky enough to say that me and my mom were super close."
Nancy welcomed several guests on her album including Duff McKagan of Guns n’ Roses and Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters.
