Tina Turner was the big winner in this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Fan Vote. Most of the time in past years, the artist that wins the fan vote gets into the Rock Hall, but not always.
Rush won the fan vote in 2013 and got in. Every year through 2019 (when Def Leppard won), the artist winning the fan vote did get inducted. That streak ended last year when the Dave Matthews Band fell short of being inducted.
The fan vote counts as one ballot. The other votes come from more than a thousand artists and those in the music industry who also vote. The fan vote is only about one tenth of one percent.
Sometimes that math doesn’t add up for the winner of the fan vote. We’ll see when the Class of 2021 for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is announced tomorrow (Wednesday, May 12th).
