Van Morrison, upset at Northern Ireland’s continued restrictions on live shows, has lashed out at officials over recent cancellations. Morrison has been an outspoken critic of restrictions for months.
Morrison’s latest criticism comes after a series of mini-shows were canceled at the last minute last week. He called Health Minister Robin Swann “very dangerous.” Morrison had hoped to have the shows classified as “test events,” but to no avail.
Speaking from what was supposed to be a pre-show event, Morrison said in frustration:
"Robin Swann has all the power, and he's keeping us in this for over 15 months." Pounding his hand into the podium, Van then barked seven times -- in an increasingly angry tone -- "Robin Swann is very dangerous!"
Morrison was joined at the podium by British Parliament member Ian Paisley. Unionist party lead Doug Beattie fired back, telling the BBC, "I am absolutely disgusted by what I saw... They should be ashamed of themselves. Two grown men who should know better, engaging in a very personal attack on Northern Ireland’s health minister."
