On Paul McCartney’s 79th birthday comes news that the Beatles documentary “Get Back” will not be shown in theaters in August, but will instead air in November on Disney-Plus.
The highly anticipated documentary will air as three 2-hour episodes at Thanksgiving – November 25th, 26th and 27th.
The film was put together from over 60 hours of previously unseen footage shot back in January of 1969 by film-maker Michael Lindsay-Hogg during the sessions for the ‘Let It Be’ album. It’ll also include bits of more than 150 hours of previously unheard audio. What a treat for Beatles fans.
Film director Peter Jackson says, "In many respects, Michael Lindsay-Hogg’s remarkable footage captured multiple storylines. The story of friends and of individuals. It is the story of human frailties and of a divine partnership. It is a detailed account of the creative process, with the crafting of iconic songs under pressure, set amid the social climate of early 1969. But it’s not nostalgia -- it’s raw, honest and human. Over six hours, you’ll get to know The Beatles with an intimacy that you never thought possible."
The documentary will also include The Beatles’ legendary Apple rooftop performance. There will be an accompanying book. ‘The Beatles: Get Back’ will be published on October 12th.
