Creedence Clearwater Revival disbanded 49 years ago and five decades later the legendary group finally has a #1 hit with the 1970 classic “Have You Ever Seen The Rain.”
The song, written by John Fogerty, just topped Billboard’s ‘Rock Digital Song Sales Chart.’ CCR fans will recall that during the band’s heyday in the late 60’s and early 70’s that they never had a #1 hit based on radio airplay and record sales. The highest chart position the group ever achieved was #2 on several occasions.
Regarding the achievement, Fogerty’s spokesperson said, "It really comes down to a variety of reasons "First and foremost, these iconic songs always have and continue to resonate with generations across the board.”
She added, "Live touring has commenced with John's first shows in over 16 months taking place this past holiday weekend. In addition, he also recently embraced the TikTok platform, uploading his own videos while also joining in on a 'Centerfield' duet with a popular TikToker”
CCR’s classics “Bad Moon Rising and “Fortunate Son” are also in the top 10 on the ‘Rock Digital Sales Chart’ at #8 and #9 respectively.
