Cher has filed a lawsuit against the widow of Sonny Bono over royalties.
Cher claims that Mary Bono, who is a former U.S. Representative, withheld royalties from her hits with Sonny during the 1960s like "I Got You Babe" and "The Beat Goes On."
Cher was married to Sonny from 1964 to 1975, and she is seeking a million dollars in damages, alleging that Mary has "undone" her ownership of the rights and royalties (of those songs).
Sonny Bono was killed in a skiing accident in January 1998 at Heavenly Mountain in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. He was 62 years old.
