Queen have just posted Episode 42 of their 50-part YouTube series, ‘The Greatest,’ as they celebrate their 50th anniversary.
This latest installment takes us back to 1996, five years after the death of Freddie Mercury, when the surviving members of the band -- Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon -- were approached by choreographer Maurice Béjart with the idea of staging a ballet set to their music.
‘The Ballet For Life’ was inspired by Queen’s ‘Made in Heaven’ album with the goal of shining a light on the AIDS epidemic, which claimed Mercury’s life.
The ballet premiered back in January 1997 in Paris and included Queen with Elton John performing "The Show Must Go On." Catch episode 42 of ‘The Greatest’ now on YouTube.
