Dennis DeYoung weighs in on Rock Hall name

Former Styx singer Dennis DeYoung has given his thoughts on Dolly Parton asking the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to remove her name from this year's ballot.

DeYoung posted on Facebook, saying, "CHANGE THE NAME...TO THE CONTEMPORARY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MOST OF THE CRITICISM WILL SUBSIDE.”

"Dolly has spoken selflessly which is more than most can say of those who have accepted induction while secretly wondering what ... they’re doing in there. This just in [golfer] Tiger Woods just inducted into [Baseball Hall of Fame in] Cooperstown [New York] because he uses a stick to hit a ball."

Styx guitarist James "JY" Young also agrees. He talked about the possibility of Styx someday being inducted into the Rock Hall. Young said, "If we're meant to get there we'll get there. You think we belong there? [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE] There's a few key people that I know are kind of the final decision makers there -- I won't mention any names -- but they should have heard that response. Yeah."

Styx have been eligible for induction in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 1997.
