The Pretenders have just finished recording their 12th album which should be released later this year.
Chrissie Hynde says, "It started out as more of a Valve Bone Woe sort of thing (referencing her 2019 album that had a jazz-blues feel to it), but morphed into a rock thing. I guess I just can’t help it. I know I shouldn’t name drop, but in the words of Neil Young, 'she’ll be rocking till she drops'... Well, Neil knows best."
The album’s release date has not been set yet. However, Hynde adds that she has no plans to tour this year. She said, "[Pretenders guitarist] James Walbourne is out with one of his other projects, the mighty His Lordship. So at least one of us is staying in shape. I’m more like a slowly deflating rubber doll. Yes, THAT kind."
The Pretenders most recent album was Hate for Sale back in 2020.
