Bob Dylan's brand new recording of his classic "Blowin' in the Wind" from 1962 is set to be auctioned by Christie’s in London on July 7th with an estimated value of between$752,000 and $1.2 million.
The new version was produced by T Bone Burnett and manufactured as a disc signed by both Dylan and Burnett. It’s housed in a wooden case that marks it as a “one-of-one.” This is one of several Dylan catalog songs that he has re-recorded with Burnett for Burnett’s new company, NeoFidelity Inc, and its Ionic Originals format, which has been described as a new development in analog technology.
Burnett said, “60 years after Bob first wrote and recorded ‘Blowin’ in the Wind,’ he is giving us a new recording of his song; one that is both deeply relevant for our times and resonant with decades of the artist’s life and experience. We’re grateful to Christie’s for their belief in the ‘Ionic Original’ and for presenting Bob’s masterful recording to the world in a unique and meaningful way.”
To actually hear this new recording, you’ll have to make a private appointment at Christie’s auction houses in London, New York or Los Angeles. In-person listening experiences will take place in Los Angeles on June 8th, New York on June 15th and London from July 2nd to the 7th.
